Turtle Rescue Update

December 12, 2012 / in

Last Friday, we were thrilled to donate a carload of towels to support the rescue efforts for the endangered sea turtles being treated at the New England Aquarium’s Animal Care Center in Quincy, Massachusetts. The center has had more than 150 turtles come through their doors, all in need of care. As you can see below, it’s a huge operation.

Today, we were so pleased to get a lovely note from Kelly at NEAQ thanking us for donating the towels, and telling us that “it has been a tremendous help as we go through many many towels a day.” She sent along some photos from the center, and wanted to share them with you.

Rescued from Cape Cod Bay, this is one of the sea turtles that needs care and attention. The cold-stunned turtles often suffer from hypothermia and need rehabilitation.

This little guy is nestled on one of our Turkish Towel bath mats. He looks pretty comfy doesn’t he?

If you would like to apply to be a volunteer at NEAQ, check out this link and be sure to check out their Wish List of items they need.

This year, if you happen to be the lucky recipient of some new towels for the holidays (or any other occasion), take a look at your old ones. If they are in good condition, why not donate them to your local animal shelter or rescue center? Towels are always in demand, for cleaning and comforting animals.
