Last Thursday at 5:00 p.m. EST, #DesignTV –hosted by the dynamic design duo of Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo (@abcddesigns) and Jonathan Legate (@jonathanlegate)– discussed the latest in the world of design. Reclaimed wood, navy blue as a neutral, brass and gold accents, and vintage emerged as some of the strongest trends on the scene.
When you are thinking of these 2012 design trends and how they might influence your plans for your home, don’t forget your bathroom. Want to add some character and one-of-a-kind style to your master or guest bathroom? Why not add some vintage pieces? Repurposed furniture or unique antique finds can add personality and flair to your bath décor. Through the power of Twitter, ideas are just a click away!
Here’s a little inspiration from always lovely, always helpful Juliane of Norbridge Antiques (@Norbridge). Why not convert this Wedgwood cream soup bowl into a guest soap dish in your powder room? ($25.00)
And, wouldn’t this signed Webb Corbett decanter be oh-so-gorgeous as bath powder container? A steal of a deal at $140.00 and a healthy dose of Hollywood glam to boost.
What about this deco dresser… can you see it with guest soaps and rolled-up towels? (£400.00, which is approximately $620.00 US) It’s from Stefani Antiques (@stefaniantiques ) in Liverpool.
I reached out to Amy and Kerri, the women behind Vintage Now, which is a 6,000 sq. ft showroom in Norristown, PA, packed with vintage and retro goodies. (Follow Kerri on Twitter at @VintageNow_) Want to bring a little gold into your bathroom, what about this elegant little bench? ($385.00)
Asian accents can add a little exotic touch, mixing art and function. Like this stool ($165.00), for example:
Newel Antiques (@newel_antiques) in NYC is a luxury wonderland. If you are looking for something really special, there’s a good chance you might find it there! I found this Art Deco brass wall sconce, with its recessed light at the bottom and a filigree medical motif that is pretty, gosh-darn fabulous. ($2,850 each)
And, this show-stopper of a mirror is an absolutely stunning example of Georgian design, with its symmetry, nature-inspired motifs and nod to Palladian architecture.
Do you have an heirloom piece that could be used in a different way? Vintage stores offer gems, pieces that are beautiful and unique. They mix well with modern interiors. So, find the piece that speaks to you and invest in the quality things you love! (That happens to be our mantra here at The Turkish Towel Company!)
