Whether you realize it or not, we get pretty intimate with our towels. On a daily basis, we wash and dry our hands, face and body. We wrap ourselves in a towel, fresh out of the shower and swaddle our babies after their bath. For The Turkish Towel Company, it is absolutely essential that our towels and robes are made in the safest way possible.
All of our products are made in Turkey, using the finest Turkish cotton. Our mill is owned by Seher Gürgün, a woman whose family has been weaving cotton for towels and robes for three generations. Not only do we bring a tradition of craft and quality to the weaving process, we also combine it with modern design, state-of-the-art technology and eco-friendly manufacturing practices. That’s why our mill is also STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified.
What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification?
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is an independent product label for all types of textiles tested for harmful substances – from yarns to the ready-to-use items that you buy. To be STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, any fabric must be tested and declared free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health.
Testing is voluntary and performed by an independent third-party lab. It’s peace of mind protection that harmful things like formaldehyde, heavy metals, and harmful dyes stay out of our product waste and, as a result, out of our soil, groundwater and air.
What difference does this make to you?
It means that when you buy any of our products, they are safe and healthy to use. They are free of all harmful chemicals, toxins and irritants. It keeps chemicals, which can be harmful to the environment and people, out of the manufacturing process and out of our towels and robes.
